早在远古时代，黄河已经开始孕育华夏的炎黄子弟，黄河的水，如一位伟大的母亲，用她的乳汁滋润着大地，使华夏的人民活到了今天，还是中华上下5000年的灿烂文化的发源地，因此她可以被称作“母亲河”是当之无愧的。
